Down To Earth Demolitions

Down to Earth Demolitions was founded by the Morrow family in 1982, and in 2003 Rohan Murphy and Glenda Lake formed a business partnership to purchase the company. It now employs a team of 50 experienced and qualified personnel, carrying out demolitions and asbestos removals across North Queensland from Mount Isa to Mackay and up to Thursday Island at the top of the Cape.

The company specialises in commercial and domestic demolitions and strip-outs, asbestos removal, and concrete drilling, boring and cutting. It also operates one of North Queensland's largest outlets for recycled building materials, recycling materials salvaged from its demolition work.

Helpful, friendly service is a recurring theme in accounts of this Cairns demolition operation, with Kathy singled out by name for her welcoming manner and readiness to assist. Several reviewers describe the second hand sale area, noting that the range of items shifts depending on what has arrived and that the stock on hand is worth checking again on another visit. A favourable price paid for windows stands out among those purchases, and the value obtained on salvaged goods is repeatedly raised as a reason customers return to see what is available.

The demolition and salvage work implied by the company name sits behind the resale of reusable building materials, and the team is described as approachable, patient with questions and straightforward in dealings. Customers mention being helped to find what they needed, with staff making the process easy and answering queries along the way. Windows, general salvage and the changing selection of used items form much of what is discussed, and the keen pricing on second hand goods alongside the friendly assistance of the team remains the point most often returned to.
