About the company

Wayne Horne Earthmoving was formed in January 1988 when Wayne Horne was joined by Mike Beaumont as a financial and business partner. The first equipment purchased was a 580C Case backhoe and a 12-ton Kato excavator plus a low loader, and the company grew from two staff to around 30 on the payroll in recent times. Early work concentrated on house foundations and roadworks for VicRoads before the company diversified into dam construction, drainage and general civil works.

The company now has over 30 years' experience in the industry, is an accredited member of the Civil Contractors Federation, and is an accredited contractor for Vic Roads, Water Authorities and VEDN underground infrastructure. It offers land development, bulk earthworks, civil and road works, and water treatment services.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Landowners and civil project managers around Ballarat describe earthmoving work where precision and reliability stand out. Homeowners recount a crossover being formed, a driveway and pad built, and a container shifted to its permanent spot, with the finish on those tasks drawing particular approval. Reviewers frequently point to the professionalism of the crew, and the excavator operator known as Mouldy earns specific credit for machine skill and close attention to detail. Clear and concise communication from the first consultation through to completion comes up often, which customers link to complex jobs being managed efficiently.

Timeframes are met, and the standard of workmanship is said to be visible at every stage. The team is portrayed as knowledgeable and committed, handling earthmoving, construction and agricultural-scale work without fuss. Accounts of residential and larger civil projects share a common thread: tasks are finished properly and on schedule, which points to genuine care for the result, and the care taken with each pad, driveway and crossover is what clients tend to highlight when describing the finished work.

Rude road raging dump trucker, disobedience to road rules, tail gaiting in 40kmph school zone, rude gestures and recklessness. Had to defensively pull off the road in a hurry.
